This program is offered in partnership with The Telling Room.
What better way to spend a summer afternoon than by taking in some verse in one of Portland’s loveliest outdoor settings and the shadow of the home of its most celebrated writer? Join MHS in the historic and beautiful Longfellow Garden as campers from The Telling Room's "Word By Word: The Craft of Poetry" share their original works. These young writers have been honing their craft by playing with diverse poetic forms, seeking inspiration from outstanding contemporary poets, and soaking up the vibe of Portland's streets in the summertime. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow started writing in Portland when he was the same age as these poets, so where better to share and enjoy their work than his childhood backyard? We hope to see you there!
This program will take place rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, the reading will be moved indoors.
