Do you believe in ghosts? Lived in and loved from 1786 until 1901, the Wadsworth-Longfellow House has seen much of life and of death. How did the people who lived here engage with death? How did they say goodbye to loved ones and preserve their memories? Did they believe they could communicate with their dearly departed?
Join us in conjuring the memories of those who breathed their last within these walls with an atmospheric eventide house tour that combines pop-up museum exhibits about Victorian mourning traditions with (un)living histories; as family members who died in the house are brought to life to share their stories...you never know whom you might encounter…
This 60-minute guided tour is recommended for guests aged 13 and older. Reservations are required; tickets are not available at the door.
The tour begins promptly at 6:30 p.m., leaving from the MHS Museum Store and lasting approximately 1 hour.
Unfortunately, late guests may be unable to join a tour in progress; this decision will be made at the discretion of management.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available at the door.

Food and drink, and large personal items such as luggage and oversized bags are not permitted inside the House. Lockers are available, but limited in size and scope.
Ticketholders may check in at the MHS Museum Store at 489 Congress Street, Portland.
We ask guests to please keep non-flash photography to a minimum during the performance. Video recording and/or flash photography is not permitted.
