The Wadsworth-Longfellow House is open to the public on weekends in May and Tuesday-Sundary, June through October via a timed ticket process. Space is limited. All House tickets (guided and self-guided) also include access to MHS's exhibitions..
Both guided and self-guided tour times are available, Saturdays are exclusively self-guided. Guests may download the Wadsworth-Longfellow House app or tour with a paper-based brochure. - Guided tours are offered at 12 p.m.,1 p.m., and 2 p.m. on weekday afternoons. All other tours are self-guided, including all Saturday and Sunday tours.
- Weather-related emergencies, staffing shortages, and other similar unforeseen circumstances may force us to close unexpectedly or to adjust our hours and/or ticket availability. When planning your visit, we encourage you to double-check our website at www.mainehistory.org or to call 207-774-1822 for the most up-to-date hours and closing announcements, especially if you have not purchased tickets in advance.
- Groups larger than twelve (12) people should book through our Group Tour process. Please email visitorservices@mainehistory.org for more Group Tour information and assistance.
- All tickets (guided or self-guided) are House & Gallery combo tickets, and include access to both the House and the Museum gallery. All gallery touring is self-guided.
- While MHS members and children aged five (5) and younger are free, every guest must reserve a ticket. The ticketing process helps manage the number of guests and ensure the quality of the tour experience.
- If you require assistance, please call 207-774-1822 x 208. However, because in-person guests are our priority, you may need to leave a message. We will return your call as soon as possible, but it may not be the same day.
